 Quality Flow’s Peter Kennedy to Speak at IAFP Conference

Northbrook, Ill. (April 8, 2003)—Peter Kennedy, president of Northbrook, Ill.-based Quality Flow, Inc., will speak at an upcoming symposium workshop entitled “Emerging Water Quality Issues in the Food Industry,” to be jointly sponsored by Quality Flow and Underwriters’ Laboratories.

Mr. Kennedy, a certified water specialist, a member of Underwriters’ Laboratories Water Advisory group and an active member of the Water Quality Association, will present a paper entitled “Water Treatment Technologies for the Food Industry” during the annual conference of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). The conference will be held August 13, 2003, in New Orleans.

This is the first symposium offered by the IAFP’s Water Quality & Safety Professional Development Group, which was formed in 2002 to explore the impact water quality has on the food chain. The symposium is expected to identify problems surrounding water quality and safety for food purveyors, including issues that affect irrigation water quality, impact of Biofilms on the safety of food products, and the effect of water quality on food-borne disease. It is also expected to offer some solutions, including methods for analyzing water quality and treating water problems in the food industry.

 “We want to identify issues that affect the true potability, quality, and safety of water on a global basis,” Mr. Kennedy said. “Water treatment is an area where technology definitely has a major impact, and this symposium allows experts from around the world to share information with each other—and get the word out.”
