(April 8, 2003)—Susan McKnight, vice president of Northbrook, Ill.-based Quality Flow, Inc., has been named to the editorial board of Food Protection Trends magazine (formerly Dairy, Food, and Environmental Sanitation) for a three-year term. The magazine is a publication of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). The IAFP, a non-profit association of food safety professionals from 50 countries, publishes two scientific journals and works with its members and other food safety personnel to keep them informed of the latest scientific, technical, and practical developments in food safety and sanitation. “There aren’t many issues more important than food protection and water quality,” Ms. McKnight said, “and few issues are more complicated. Water is a key ingredient that impacts food as it travels from farm to table, and Food Protection Trends is taking a leading role in raising the awareness of emerging water issues that affect food safety around the world. I look forward to being part of that process.” Ms. McKnight, a certified water specialist, also chairs the IAFP’s Water Quality and Safety Professional Development Group which addresses the need for development of water quality standards for the food industry by examining the impact of water quality on the food chain.
