Quality Flow’s Susan McKnight Chairs “Water and Safety” Group

Northbrook, Ill. (August, 2002)—Susan McKnight, vice president of Northbrook, Ill.-based Quality Flow, Inc., has been named chair of a new Professional Development Group on “Water Quality and Safety” for the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP). The IAFP, a non-profit association of food safety professionals from 50 countries, publishes two scientific journals and works with its members and other food safety personnel to keep them informed of the latest scientific, technical, and practical developments in food safety and sanitation.

According to Ms. McKnight, a certified water specialist, water quality and how it affects the food chain can no longer be taken for granted.

“The EPA ranks water pollution as one of the top four environmental threats to health in the U.S.,” she said, “and it’s a pretty safe bet that there isn’t a town in this country that isn’t wrestling with water quality issues. That’s why the IAFP formed the Water Quality and Safety Professional Development Group. It gives us a chance to bring together some of today’s top experts on the subject, and makes it easier for us to get the message out—what the issues are, and what can be done about them. I’m looking forward to working with people from around the world in addressing some of these problems.”

Among the issues the group will address are water quality standards for food processors, the quality of water monitoring and analysis, and, in light of terrorist activities worldwide, the security of public water supply systems.

Founded in 1984, Quality Flow, Inc. provides expertise to assure safe water and water treatment to some of the world’s leading names in the food and beverage service industry, from suppliers of restaurant beverages and beverage-making equipment to internationally famous franchises in the food industry. The company is a member of the Water Quality Association, National Restaurant Association, International Association of Food Protection, and The American Waterworks Association.
